Ricki Starr 1931-2014

Ringside reader Gary just told me that Ricki (Ricky) Starr died on September 20th at age 83. Sad news. A ballet dancer who turned pro wrestler in 1952 or 1953, Starr did more to "gay up" the squared circle than even Gorgeous George--and, unlike George, he was a babyface whom fans adored, perhaps the first babyface to use the "gay gimmick."
