Jett Bentley vs Chad Daniels, Tic Tac Toe Submission (88Wrestling)

By the midpoint of this match, Jett and Bentley are tied 1:1, Jett with a sitting surfboard submission, Chad with a crucifix submission. The winning holds are significant because the wrestlers are playing Tic Tac Toe Submission, requiring the wrestlers to mark a spot on the game board by submitting the other with a designated hold. Now Jett has the upper left position. Chad has the crucial center. I'm not crazy about the shtick, but the guys don't let it get in the way of a good, hard fight, which is what matters most. Just check out the welts on the loser's body at the end.

The real drama stems not from the game but from Jett's surly attitude from the beginning. He has yet to win a match, having already lost to Chad once in a three-way last spring. He seems certain nonetheless of his superiority to Chad, giving the beach-blond lip to that effect while Chad is explaining the game to him. Chad has the stronger build, but Jett's under the impression that it's his turn to win at 88, that somehow 88 owes him a win at this point in his budding career. Chad quietly shrugs, fairly sure he can kick the new boy's ass ... again.

The battle-game starts at a feverish pace in a whirlwind of body slams, stretches, and backbreakers, the advantage leaping from one man to the other in the blink of an eye. The fast pace blurs the lines between the two combatants and raises a shiny sweat on both bodies. By the 7:00 mark, Jett's and Chad's bodies look like they've been oiled. At the halfway point, with 12 more minutes remaining, Chad submits Jett by crucifix, tying the score. "You're not getting any more X's on that board, man," Chad informs the increasingly mouthy Jett at the start of Round 3. "I think it's YOU that's not getting any more X's on there," Jett replies confidently. One of these guys is right. I'll say no more, except that this is topnotch give-and-take wrestling, and I, for one, am officially calling for a rematch between these two studs. With Daniels vs Bentley, 88 officially joins the ranks of companies putting the fight back into underground wrestling.

  1. With Chad Daniel's since, you'd think he would dominate opponents such as Jett Bentley and Ethan Andrews. Yet, these skinny muscle punks often trample him in the squared circle. I'd prefer to watch Chad as the heel in a match just for a change. Ethan Andrews (a.k.a. Axel) wins too often and it is not because of his beefy muscle body.

    1. I think the opposite. I love it when a cocky muscle like chad gets beaten by a more veteran opponent. I hope 88wrestling would do more sleepers or better yet a headscissor figure 4 knockout ending would be the best.
