Axel vs Matt, Match 649 (UCW)

Axel does a match like this one and I fall in love with him all over again. This is the guy's strong suit - real competition on the mat. Nobody in the underground scene does it better than Axel. To be sure there are flourishes that distinguish it from college- or Olympic-style:   there's punching, for instance; Axel and new guy Matt gradually strip down to jockstraps; the win is by three submissions. But the wrestling is authentic, and all the sexier for being competitive and no-nonsense. The well-named Matt (simply Matt) is a fine contender, putting up all the fight Axel could possibly hope for. I don't think any of the other UCW roster members could have put up a better one.

The last shot above sums up a key element of wrestling, key for me anyway. I believe the wrestlers should exhaust themselves in the struggle. This applies to the ring as well as the mat. I can be impressed by a guy who can whip another guy's ass and walk away unscathed and good as new, but the matches that count for me are the ones where opponents grind each other down to the nub. Match 649 gives viewers 31 minutes of taxing competition. In the end, Matt and Axel alike are sapped, drained, spent, consumed. That's sexy to me because it resembles the warm languor after orgasm. It's also sexy because it's real.
