The Oil King

Kenny Star vs Nero Angelo, Match 674 (UCW)

I like his neo-sumo build, but I can't stand Nero Angelo's wrestling persona - a handsy creep who gets off on violating his opponent's comfort zone. I know it's a gimmick, but it's too close to the reality of  leering casting-couch sleazebags and intern-chasing politicos for me to find it amusing. What I wouldn't mind seeing is somebody standing up to the so-and-so and giving him a good thrashing.

I would not have  thought of Kenny Star as the man for the job. However, he first appeared on my radar in late 2015, opposite the sly, recently-retired (so I've heard)  Quinn Harper, who similarly took Kenny to be a rube easily led down the garden path. Who wouldn't? What with those puppy-dog eyes and the aw-shucks grin and all. In that match, Kenny nearly knocked the usually unshakable heel out cold, causing the "Mighty" Quinn to pronounce Star "strong as a fuckin' ox."

With scruff on his well-angled jawline and some added muscle, Kenny now looks like the kind of fighter who just might be able to turn the tables on Nero. There is still that open, trusting face of his and a blushing modesty that is as endearing as it is troubling against a wily fox like Angelo, but with the added beef and testosterone he could conceivably be Nero's undoing.

This is an oil match, and oil matches are, after all, synonymous with sex. There's a reason WWE and other family-friendly wrestling entertainments do not have oil matches. (Such is not the case in all cultures, though, or in every era of wrestling history.) The oil match is highly erotic when both wrestlers are game and interested in each other, considerably less so when one of them looks uncomfortable ... or panicked.

Kenny's response to Nero is hard to read at first. He seems skittish and easygoing by turns, but never intimidated. And Nero's response to Kenny is lascivious (though less so than in some of his previous matches) and (perhaps, under the circumstances) overly confident.
