Splits

Aaron Lopez vs Corey "Badger Boy" Turner, Catalog 16 - The Rougher the Better! (MuscleBoy Wrestling)

Entering the fight room arm in arm, the wrestle-buddies agree to a few stretches before engaging in competition. Corey compliments Aaron on his flexibility and asks Lopez to help loosen him up. Aaron tugs at Turner a bit, which mostly serves to warm Corey up for wrestling. Corey gets the first takedown and goes immediately for a banana split - a humorous and suggestive name for what is sometimes more accurately called an electric chair, given the way the sudden stretch of the groin muscles sends bolts of pain through the body.

Given his balletic elasticity, Aaron suffers not at all from Corey's wrenching apart his thighs. Corey follows with a couple of forearm smashes and a lock on his man's head and left arm, pinning shoulders to the mat. He gets a two-count; then Aaron thrusts loose and grips Corey in a body-scissors. "I don't give that easily," Turner grunts drily, and again he uses forearm smashes to escape and regain control. Back on their feet, the two lock up, with Turner taking Lopez down in a spectacular thigh split (first GIF above) - spectacularly futile, too, because of Aaron's limberness.

Aaron's ability to withstand mile-wide splits and feel little to no pain is what distinguishes him from Corey, whose pain threshold for this form of torture is low. What Corey has over Aaron is toughness, his epithet "Badger Boy" being an accurate and fair description of this dude's tenacity and fight. Corey's Achilles' heel is evident from the start of the match. Aaron's remains to be seen. The fight is best when the guys get tough with each other. Endurance tests turn predicable after a couple of minutes, after the point is made, but Corey's rowdy expressiveness and tough-guy tactics imbue the fight with energy and grit.
