Little David, Big Goliath

Leo Luckett vs Nick Flex, Catalog 18 - Balls to the Wall (MuscleBoy Wrestling)

This is a classic David and Goliath match. There are moments of gracelessness and unevenness, but Nick's and Leo's professionalism and star appeal distinguish it from most other big-little contests. If anything, the occasional flub is endearing, situating the fantasy in the real world we know and spotlighting the wrestlers' unruffable commitment to the fight.

Leo and Nick alike are at their physical peaks, and every second of contact between them is erotically charged. I'm especially impressed with Luckett's pluck. Every shot of this kid's smooth torso hits me like a novelty-shop hand buzzer to the balls. And as the match wears on, I gasp at each glimpse of Nick's hand prints on Leo's thighs just under the leg holes of his trunks. Five-foot-5 and 150 pounds (compared to Nick's 5-11, 215 pounds), Leo holds his own against Flex better than expected.

To date, Nick's best fights have been against Dante, Aspen, and especially Austin Tyler. These are underground wrestling classics. Leo is most amazing against big brutes like Nick, Alex Costa, and especially Ryan Sparks. Leo puts up a fight, even when he's jobbing. And he was never better than when he faced the blunt, impassive force of Sparks. Luckett vs Flex could have been and should have been even better, but it is great enough to whet my appetite for (please!) a rematch.
