Gabe Steele vs Travis (Oil Bash/Wrestler4Hire)

The scene opens with Travis doing pushups. He stands, and we see the full beauty of his physique, already glistening in oil. He returns to his pushups, and Gabe Steele steps on the mat behind him and coats his torso and legs in oil. Initially, both pretend to be unaware of the other. Then Gabe turns his attention towards Travis, playfully squirting the remainder of the oil on the new guy's abs. Travis is as ready to wrestle as Gabe is, so they waste no time in getting down to business.

As you might guess, Gabe is quick to assert his superiority, taking Travis down to the tarp, then pressing him flat in a schoolboy pin. Without effort, he slips behind his opponent and locks on a full nelson and body scissors hold. He adjusts position to smash his forearm to Travis's chest, but the move leaves Travis enough room to reverse and gain a leg lock on Gabe. He holds it for ten or so seconds, but the oil makes it difficult to maintain his grip. He retains control, nevertheless, by applying a headlock.

Already (four minutes in) there's more give and take than I expect when Gabe takes on a new hire. Travis is a feisty opponent, eager to engage and confident in his wrestling abilities. With Travis, we get none of the deer-in-the-headlights look of so many beginner wrestlers. He has a beautiful body, but more importantly he knows how to work it in a wrestling match. Gabe's trademark is his infectious smile and zest for competition when engaging with an opponent. The guy loves wrestling, and his joyous approach to each contest is a main reason for his unique position among underground wrestlers. There is no denying both wrestlers' abilities and beauty, though their styles obviously differ.

Gabe Steele brings ebullience to every match he's in, more so when he's breaking in a new wrestler for hire in an oil match. Travis is bold, expressive, and tough,  and both wrestlers work each other hard. An oiled tarp is difficult to navigate, but these two ride it like championship surfers. This is not the usual squash job I expect of a newcomer's initiation. It is or very much looks like a legit contest of brawn versus brawn.
