Lucky 13 Anniversary

Today is special for me because it is the day I started this blog thirteen years ago. Here from top to bottom are the thirteen most visited underground wrestling matches I have blogged about. It's no surprise that some of these matches were firsts for the sites and for the blog. The list celebrates the matches and the promotions that have shaped my and other fans' interest in underground wrestling.

I don't know how much longer I will be blogging. I'm the happiest right now that I have ever been, but I'm old - or so my eyesight and waistline tell me. As for wrestling - especially underground wrestling and bedroom tussles - I can't imagine tiring of it ever.

Honorable mentions for my other pals  - Athletic Model GuildBG Enterprise, Black Wrestling Network, Bulldog Wrestling UK, Fightroom, Hunkswrestling, Living Room WrestlingNaked Kombat, NewPro WrestlingNo Rules Wrestling (NRW), Old ReliableWrestle4aFee, and Wrestlingmale - and for promotions I have overlooked or I haven't even checked out yet (someday soon, I hope).

  1. Congratulations and best wishes as you enter your teen years. I know how you feel about being uncertain how much more blogging you will do -- and I, too, can't imagine ever growing tired of wrestling. (I think I, too, may be the happiest now that I've ever been, now that you mention it.) For me, moving my blog to a new platform has reignited my imagination and gotten my creative juices flowing again. Not that I'm recommending this change in particular, but to find a new format, a series or style you haven't done before, even changing the banner could tell the universe that you've now come of age.

  3. Happy anniversary! As the panicky rabbit blogger who once panicked and deleted all the posts where I talked, I've always admired you and your blog as this rock of reliability. (And if I've double-posted this comment, kindly delete one for me.) :)

    2. I love how Sean Pford posted his comment twice. It's so Sean Pfordy. Sorry Ringside, but our blogs pale in hilarity!

  4. Happy Anniversary Joe, UCW has always loved reading and talking over your postings about us and other companies. The guys still talk about when you use to visit us, need to do that again before you quit. You are always welcome!

    1. Thank you! I'd like to visit you guys again. Right now all my money is sunk into an upcoming trip to Paris and Prague (unless plans change unexpectedly), but maybe in 2022, hopefully post-pandemic - I'd love that.

  7. I must say congratulations on all your work with this blog over the years! Skull Island is practically daily reading for me (though I don’t know how I skipped over this particular post)…

Your insights and commentary on matches help me decide if I’m going to purchase anything from one of the various companies. Besides that, upon the inception of Skull Island there was not anywhere that allowed me, and many others I presume, to distinguish, re-classify and further enjoy what we may just perceived as a personal kink dating back to the early days of Championship Wrestling from Florida.

I’ve really enjoyed the blogs occasional excursions into old Tarzan films, literature, peplum and the mystique of Kong. Your voice on the Internet here has been erudite and welcome and I hope it will continue for years to come. Cheers to another 13!

  8. Joe...you probably answered this before, but where did the Blog name Ringside at Skull Island come from?

    1. I launched the blog with a brief video of the 1933 King Kong fighting and killing a Tyrannosaurus rex on Skull Island. (I don't know how to make a link to that primeval post, but here is the URL:

      https://ringsideatskullisland.blogspot.com/2008/10/king-kong-wrassles-t-rex.html)

That doesn't answer your question, Thadd, but this will: I saw the '33 movie on TV and experienced one of my earliest hard-ons at or slightly before the age of 10. It's fair to say the idea of wrestling and fighting as an aphrodisiac was probably not fully formed in my head at that age - but over time it became embedded in my erotic code. Along with Kong, GIs wrestling outside the barracks, Mighty Mouse, and Tarzan (especially when he wrestled alligators underwater) also influenced my burgeoning kink. So "Ringside at Skull Island" seemed like an appropriate name for a blog dedicated to fighting or grappling to arousal. It's not an especially memorable or cool name, but it resonates with me.

  9. Man that is really cool. I always got aroused from young cowboys in TV fights. And to this day when some dude calls me out like in a bar and we throw down I am really hard in my faded jeans and if the dude grinds me in our rollovers I bust my cream move in my 501s. I really enjoy your Blog dude. It is a daily visit for this young gun cowboy!
