Beating Dio

Kirk Donahue vs Dio Characi, StripStakes 6 (BG East)

Dio is what I like to call squeezable, a six-foot-tall stress ball capable of squeezing back. The fleshy raw recruit is neither pumped nor slender. He has the natural elegance of youth. He's supremely fit to wrestle - a gear match, as it turns out. We see him first striking poses in the BGE ring. He doesn't notice Kirk's arrival until the heel slips into the ring behind him, loudly proclaiming his own greatness and predicting an easy win over the newcomer.

Dio's previous bouts have not been victorious. (His fate in this match is writ in the photos above.) For Dio, however, victories are less important than the feeling of muscle against muscle. He's a sensualist, while Kirk is a strict get-the-job-done type. He and Kirk start off with a test of strength. Dio bends Kirk back, Kirk drives his knee to Dio's ribs. Dio writhes on the mat, complaining that Kirk's attack is not fair. (Clearly, he wasn't told that fairness means nothing at BG East.)

For the next 28 minutes (out of a total of 31) Kirk beats up Dio, with a series of headlocks, chicken wings, body slams, chokes, crab holds, stomps, and stretches. Dio's hoarse yowls are pitiful and kind of boner-inducing. Halfway through the match, Dio is stripped down to his pink g-string and wrestling shoes. Kirk voluntarily follows suit, inviting Dio to mount him "just so you feel like you actually won something there." Dio obliges, but his heart's not in it. because, as noted, he sees victory as secondary to a tight squeeze.

Dio likely enjoys Donahue's lively and playful bullying. In the end, Kirk strips Dio of his shoes and socks, leaving him with knee pads and the g-string. The knee pads disappear soon enough. Donahue uses one of them to smother Dio. Ultimately, Donahue chokes Dio out, leaving him on his back with a hardon tenting his g-string.

Dio is pulled on all fours away from the ring to a more private space. This may be Kirk's most erotic match to date - yet we are denied a front-row seat to what happens next. Perhaps the lingering shot of the abandoned gear is a hint.
