I Bet We Haven't Seen the End of This One
Brock Hartman vs Tanner Hill, Ambushed (88Wrestling)
88 enters boner territory in its latest match, its first of 2019. Beefy bad boy Brock is not only bigger, sweatier, and heavier than fan favorite Tanner. He's also got six-foot, 200# Dash Decker giving him illegal assists throughout this 23-minute hellraiser. It's pure murder, no doubt in retaliation for Tanner and his partner Chase Lundquist's glorious victory over Brock and Dash last month.
What's making my mouth water is not just all the fine muscle on display in the 88 ring. It's the high probability that Tanner - a born hothead - is going to make Brock and Dash pay - and pay dearly - for this unsporting attack. (I'm fairly sure Chase will want a piece of this action, too.) The promise of comeuppance gives this fight added vigor.
But vigor is not lacking in the fine show of macho aggression on display here. Tanner starts out strong, super strong, as I expected, but Dash doesn't interfere in the fight until a third of the way through the fight - AFTER Brock has already turned the tide in his favor and given Hill a good trouncing all on his own.
Once together, brutish Brock and dastardly Dash take their time to make sure this brutalization is as close to perfect as it can be. They bludgeon Tanner on the floor, and against the ropes and turnbuckle. Decker bear-hugs Hill while Hartman literally kicks Tanner's ass. Each man takes an arm and nearly snaps it free of its socket (see the third shot, above). Brock adds some refined touches to the sadism as well - grinding Tanner's nuts beneath the sole of his shoe and yanking at Tanner's short-cropped hair.
The bullies' combined depravity makes my mouth water. It's delicious in its own right, but by the end of the match, my head is swimming with visions of the ass-whupping they have set themselves up for. 88 gets this story line exactly right, marking a new high in the company's recent attempts to bring polish and excitement to its matches. It will be hard for 88 to top this one, but I can't wait to see them try.

Until I read the above commentary, I was pretty pissed that my fave, Tanner the Magnificent, was unfairly set up in this ambush. I was going to volunteer to fly to Florida and be Tanner's sinister manager, Mr. Madras, and inflict cheap shots on the bullies from outside the ring in defense of my boy. Now, I'm feeling a little better and hope we don't have to wait too long to see what Tanner's awesome revenge will be, hopefully with biceps beautifully blazing!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I gotta say, which ever company can bring "Tanner" together for hot matches (worship? and definitely ring) with hot and very athletic "Kasee" (ThundersArena and UndergroundWrestler) will definitely hit the jackpot! The challenge is on!
Tanner vs Scrappy would be awesome, as well!!
