On a Clear Night You Can See Caesar's Palace

Cason vs Caffrey, Vegas Battles 95 (Thunders Arena)

Cason breaks newcomer Caffrey in at the Bellagio in Vegas, at one point showing the new kid the suite's view of Caesar's Palace. Caffrey seems more interested in wrestling than in sightseeing, to his credit, at a couple of points actually succeeding in wiping the perpetual smirk from Cason's face. Caffrey has a ways to go before he's as majestic as Cason (check out the Michelangelesque pose in the second GIF - wowza!), but Caffrey's shaping up fast as a true-blue grappler, a role he appears to take seriously.

Some of the match's best moments find the wrestlers struggling against each other while on their feet. Ordinarily I'm a down-on-the-mat kind of guy, but these takedowns are an eyeful - fierce and stately all at once. And the falls are rougher because realer than a lot of takedowns in underground wrestling. See the third, sixth, and seventh GIFS - this is genuine grappling. Cason and Caffrey play to the camera perfectly, their taut bodies more memorable and elegant than the well-appointed setting, though the lighting and color scheme do bring out the enticing skin tones.

Relatively inexperienced, Caffrey, as he is known at the Arena, really wants us to respect him as a bonafide wrestler, a quality I also associate with Scrappy. Many of the body beautifuls in underground wrestling focus entirely on the gym and the gear, but Caffrey and Scrappy are dedicated to the science of wrestling, too. There are others, to be sure, who escape my memory right now, but I enjoy and respect these two's professionalism in taking underground wrestling beyond posing, thrusting, leering, and shit-talking. I appreciate a little mat (or ring) attitude so long as the models also give us some real athletic competition and vitality.

  1. Looking forward to enjoying this hot-looking match! Cason is an all-timer fave in many ways. Caffrey/Mav is taking the Internet by storm. My suggestion to Thunders was to make Kasee an offer he can't refuse and bring him back to show his heir-apparent the ropes, i.e. kick the crap out of him! THAT would be an awesome match!
