In Praise of Top Heavy Lighting in Wrestling

This NWA Branded Outlaw Wrestling match from February 9th in San Antonio (watch it here)--pitting the now world heavyweight champion Rob Conway, 6'1", 234#, against "Untouchable" Alex Reigns, 6'1", 220#--makes the case for severe, high-contrast lighting in wrestling videography. What is lost in detail is more than made up for in dramatic impact, and this is coming from somebody who dearly loves clarity of detail. A vertical spot, in combination with glare, coarse grain, and an extreme (down-at-the-ankles) low angle, gives this clash of titans a sense of epic intensity.
