Chuck Cyrus vs Marc Morgan, Rebirth, 27 January 2017 (Shropshire Wrestling Alliance)

Another handout from Jim from Tennessee, Morgan vs Cyrus is especially for fans of manly tummy bumping, like me. Bulgy midsections may not be to everyone's taste, but I'm obsessed with them, especially when both wrestlers tote targetable breadbaskets. Instinctively these two athletes know that the two-count was made with them expressly in mind - so, in fact, were the airplane spin and the body slam - and in this match from January, mounds of adipose and muscle tissue smother and quiver by turns. Often impressive at mat wrestling, swim-team types cannot pull off these moves with the same seismic swagger and grandeur, no matter how many backflips they throw into the mix.

Cyrus ("Mr. Massive") brims with confidence, and it's that confidence that gets him back up on his feet every time Marc flattens him to the canvas or the floor - sometimes in a not altogether sporting manner. Throughout the 20-minute fight, my loyalties shift from the fun-loving Chuck to the moody Marc and back. In the end it's Chuck's ditzy enthusiasm that wins me totally. These strongmen are the real deal, brimming with animal magnetism. And the ending is a richly satisfying surprise, which I should have seen coming, but I was too caught up in the heaving physicality.
