For Real

Tanner Martin vs Eli Fisher (Movimus Wrestling)

Movimus's latest release sets two hot and handsome athletes against each other - Tanner, the blond farm boy, in his third match for Movimus, and Eli, the dark-haired college wrestler, in his first. Eli's advantage is his experience in collegiate wrestling - though submission style is new to him. Tanner's is his strong physique, particularly his well-developed thighs. He also has a 10-pound weight advantage and six inches in height on Eli.

Amazingly, Eli wins the first fall within 30 seconds. No less amazingly, Tanner wins the second just 40 seconds later. It's a promising start, indicating both men's readiness and determination, but the next falls don't come so speedily because the grapplers learn fast what to look out for in each other. As Movimus's catalog description aptly puts it, "Now the real wrestling begins." The next 15 minutes consists of strenuous exertion and a fevered struggle for supremacy. One man gradually gains a strong lead, but we haven't seen the last (or the best) of the other man yet.

"Real wrestling" means the drama arises solely from the physical struggle - Eli's and Tanner's strength and gamesmanship. This is not a performance with tactics and outcomes planned before anyone steps on the mat. The pace is not the rhythmic plot escalations of ring wrestling. Instead, it lurches and stalls as the athletes knot their sinewy bodies together. The expressions of pain, frustration, and willpower that flash across the wrestler's faces are as authentic as they are compelling. Whatever the outcome here - and one of these guys does win big - I suspect this is not the last we'll see of Fisher versus Martin.
