Look Virility Up in a Dictionary and You Find ...

For my friends who don't see the grace, fury, and ardor of mat wrestling in Speedos, no words of mine will sway you. To my eyes, the eroticism of real submission wrestling is obvious. Perhaps these shots of Max Anderson and Alex Reid in heated battle will gain some converts, but even if they don't, I continue to look at them in a hypnotized state of lust. Max and Alex are a near perfect match in height and weight, 5'11" 192# and 6' 187#, respectively.

Max wears chartreuse trunks in the first match, red and black patterned trunks in the rematch. Alex wears basic black in both, with a streak of color as accent in the rematch. Max has more experience, and probably he's more familiar to longtime fans of NHB-Battle and Movimus. Alex is a beauty, too, and gives Max a damn good fight in both contests. My sicko side would like some punching and hair-pulling in the mix, but straight grappling does the trick for me, especially when the athletes wear their bodies this well.

I'm torn between the two, which makes the matches all the more electrifying for me. Some of the GIFs below stop just a heartbeat or two before a submission. Both match and rematch are desert-island picks of mine, Max and Alex at their best.

  1. Two of my favorite old Max matches. Alex was also quite the stud. I wish Max, especially, was still wrestling. I think Max was NHB's most prolific wrestler, wrestling very many dudes over a decade. It was a treat watching him grow from young buck, with good looks and natural athleticism alone, to masterful man with significant mat skills. While he won a lot more than he lost, he took on all comers and lost quite a few. And, being NHB Battle, wins and losses were of course all by glorious submission. The company also wisely booked rematches, so that mat had epic multiple-match struggles with Brock Hammer, Mikey Hanlon, Connor Flynn, Sandro Vinnari, and others, including Alex Reid. I miss those days. Thankfully, Movimus still has the matches.
