Taken by Force

Kyle Bradford vs Patrick Donovan, Rec Room Battles 9 (NHB-Battle)

Bradford vs Donovan reminds me of fights after school. I never missed one if I could help it. These two have a natural antipathy, and it shows in their animalistic assaults. Win or lose, they are determined to leave marks on the other guy. Twenty or so years ago, this match caught my eye because of Patrick. Tall, lean, and aggressive in a fight, he has an air of aristocratic reserve that contrasts beautifully with Kyle's bully instincts. Even their haircuts are polar opposites. The battle is neck and neck to the end, with Patrick often cornered into fighting defensively.

The dustup features punching and knee jabs and hair pulling - a real cat fight - with Kyle chiefly in charge of keeping it dirty. Action sequences contrast with sequences in which the two are bound together so tight there's hardly any movement at all. Heavy breathing and taunts share the soundtrack with the thump of bodies against pallet and the slap of skin on skin. Both these wrestlers played the underground wrestling circuit, so both are so well prepared for this match it hurts. (In 2001, Bradford found himself in a tabloid battle with movie star Tom Cruise. It was a draw.)

Even the shabby lighting and bled-out coloration work for this video - which I nabbed, along with other downloads, during Movimus's Labor Day weekend sale. According to the catalog description, Kyle picked this fight with Patrick to prove he could beat everyone at NHB-Battle. My bet is that Patrick was quick to accept the challenge because, different as they are, both men live and breathe to dominate by force.

  1. Do you know what happened to movimus wrestling? I sent them a message and they didn't reply me. There are no updates on their page since early October and they don't update their social media for an even longer time. I can't even remember their latest match as well. This is looking very very bad. Please, try contacting them and post your findings on this blog. Thanks.

    2. This is incredibly sad. I actually read an article listing these stories a couple of years ago, but didn't give it much importance. Whatever the guy did in the past, it was decades ago and he surely didn't deserve such fate.

Do you think movimus wrestling can still continue after his passing? There may be other people working in the project. I saw they posted this a couple of weeks AFTER Capparelli's death.

      "Hello everyone,

As many of you have noted, we have not released any new submission wrestling matches since April this year. This is due to several reasons which we will not go into details. We just want to let out customers and fans know that we are still around, and we are focus on filming new matches soon over summer. We appreciate your support and patience and we look forward to sharing the new matches soon.

      Thank you.
