This year Jacob Van Acker should win the Agony Award (or Ow-scar) for best suffering in a sub-hurting role. Nick Justice gave him a beating to remember last year. This is a sequel or, as fighters like to say, rematch. At the beginning it looks like Van Acker may deliver the payback he dreamed of giving Justice all year. A few minutes later, though, Nick takes charge, reclaiming the role he's best suited for: persecutor. Will Van Acker pull a last-minute reversal, in the end dealing justice to Justice? Not likely.
In my earlier review, I groused that the 2018 fight was too "stagey," not "visceral" enough. This match provides viscera aplenty, almost as if the gods of underground wrestling had heard and answered my plea. This is the good stuff. Justice is a resourceful and brutal heel - he's the grownup version of the playground bully we all feared but secretly envied. Van Acker is the pretty young thing that becomes his target of choice. And who wouldn't like to torpedo this dreamboat?
A magnificent vanquishment arises from a number of factors, worth noting:
Van Acker may not be the only wrestler running for the 2019 "best suffering" award. The competition is thick, with Dante, Kirk Donahue, Spencer Hawlins, and Zack or Zach Reno in close contention with Jacob. Who gets your vote? Or who else deserves a nomination?
