Balls and Chain

Kayden Keller vs Rolf Fulton, Heel Bash 4 (BG East)

Keller's heel style is coolly intellectual. He dissects opponents without emotion. Fulton's heel style is mouthy and loud. He's not dumb, just a little unhinged. Both are rangy yet stronger than their lean builds would suggest. Fulton knows how to play to the crowd or, in this case, the camera a bit better than Keller does, but Keller has the stronger win record at BG East. Keller comes off as the more dependable of the two, dependably cruel, calculating, and tenacious. It's no wonder, then, that BGE fans voted him the top heel of 2017, 2018, and 2019 and voted three (three!) of his 2019 matches (in Wrestling Kink 1: On the Edge, Heel Bash 3, and Undagear 32) best of the year.

In general, I'm fascinated by tall guys into wrestling. It's a sport that favors low centers of gravity and roundness. Rolf is 6'1" and Kayden, 6'2", according to their listed stats. In the opening shot, Rolf gazes at his mirror reflection, fancying himself a muscleman. His body is attractive but hardly beefcake material. Rolf's gimmick consists of such delusions of grandeur. He is so self-absorbed that he doesn't see Kayden sneaking up behind him with a choke chain - even though he's staring right into a mirror! So let's say that Rolf lives in his head a lot. Kayden tightens the clutch and pulls Fulton to the corner ropes intending to make short work of the guy.

When Fulton reverses, he does what I love him for - he bites Keller's middle fingers, and he rolls down Keller's knee pads in order to dig his elbow into the joint. These details kill me, and Rolf is a master of the death by a thousand cuts. When he regains control, Kayden aims in that direction, too, but he can't match Rolf's childlike delight in viciousness. The pleasure Kayden takes in destruction is more cultivated and aloof, like a villain in a 007 movie - "No, Mr. Bond, I expect you to die." Rolf is the guy who picked a fight with you in middle school and kicked you in the shin. His savage immaturity manifests itself again when he gets hold of the choke chain, and instead of wrapping it around Kayden's neck, he forces it between the man's teeth like a steel bit in a horse's mouth.

The 25-minute match follows a pattern that is somewhat predictable but sadistically satisfying. The photos above cover slightly more than half of the match. So let me summarize the rest, but without spoilers. About 14 minutes into the fight one guy chokes the other out cold. Not content with that, the victor presses on, resuscitating his opponent by putting him in a Boston crab hold and letting the pain in the lower back and kneecaps wake him up. True sadism doesn't stop at winning, and for the next few minutes the groggy victim gets wrung, punched, clawed, and choked out again and again and again. Up to this point, the match has been a fight. For the last 11 minutes, it's a total squash.
