Chris Tyler vs CJ Carter, HOPE Evolution 93 - Heroes Get Remembered ... Legends Never Die (HOPE Wrestling)

Since the spring of 2018, when last I posted on him, Chris Tyler has apparently had a Road-to-Damascus experience and repented of his former wicked ways. That's too bad. Indie wrestling could use more handsome heels. Still, Tyler's hale body and boy-next-door looks are well suited to his new role as babyface. In this match from last month, he is the crowd favorite, squaring off against nasty CJ Carter. Gone is his smugness. Gone, his love of destruction for its own sake. He's downright lovable - accepting a hug on his way to the ring and, later, when he accidentally bumps into a front-row fan, he gives her an apologetic peck on the forehead.

Carter is a great foil for the newly righteous Tyler. He's as foul as Chris is clean cut. His loutish ways stand in contrast to Chris's gentlemanly sportsmanship and respect for fans. Though CJ pretends otherwise, his attacks on Tyler do not square with the rules of fair play. He bitch-slaps, he scratches, he plays the cowardly heel whose only chance of winning is to cheat. That knee to Chris's neck (fourth GIF) is a big ouch! Given the situation, Tyler shows admirable restraint, but he's not going to put up with Carter's shenanigans forever.
