Hey, Watch the Hair!

Ronnie Pearl vs Jacob Van Acker, with ref Slade Groman (Wrestler4Hire)

At multiple points in this 20-minute match, guest referee Slade Groman warns Ronnie Pearl about hair-pulling. In turn, Ronnie complains that the ref's "boy" is not ready for the squared circle and repeatedly makes his point by tearing Jacob Van Acker a new asshole every 20 seconds or so. Pearl says Van Acker is an embarrassment to Groman, who apparently booked this match to showcase the rookie. This may not be the exhibition either Jacob or Slade had in mind, but Ronnie sure has fun making Jacob regret stepping into the ring. Slade watches the debacle with close interest, but Ronnie hides some of his stiffest punishments from the ref's attention.

The images above represent only the first half of the match. About midway through, the storyline swerves into new territory best not divulged in this post. (If you are serious about not wanting spoilers, I recommend that you not read the catalog description of this match.) Anyhow, Pearl is not handling Van Acker with kid gloves. The hair-pulling looks rough enough to really hurt. At one point Jacob's knee is bloody - probably nothing serious, but still an indication of the fight's intensity. The sweat on both men's bodies, just three minutes in, suggests that the match is no cakewalk. Ronnie obviously enjoys hurting the rookie, and Jacob can be depended on to express his agony at an emotional level to satisfy the most discriminating sadist.
