Tough Enough?

Tanner Hill vs Matt Miller, Tough Enough? (88Wrestling)

"Rookie, huh?" Tanner sizes Matt up from his corner, his smile crooked. "Oh, yeah. Just got here," Matt replies. "I'm looking to take your ring," he adds, hopefully but in a reticent tone. They approach each other at the center of the ring. Tanner asks the rookie if he is strong and good at wrestling, noting that this is the first he has seen of him at 88. "You got a lot of moves?" Tanner asks. "Of course," Matt replies, with a lilt in his voice.

This prequel to Tanner and Matt's tag team debut against Ethan and Jake shows us Tanner test-driving his new partner before taking him out on the road. It's less a contest or fight than an exhibition of a few holds - full nelson and arm bar and crab, with some punching, hair-pulling, and a torture rack - all made more flavorful through an abundance of sweat. Beyond grunts and moans, there is little to no selling of the action, just the basic formations. The holds are not seriously resisted, and there is not a lot of bite to them. It's a tryout, after all.

Both men look fantastic, all the better when drenching wet and muscles popping. Tanner is built like brick. Nobody's solider than he at 88. He looks like he belongs on top of a fountain in Rome. Matt has an open, forthright face, and a meaty build perfect for pro-style matches.

For me, the main draw to this match is the bodies - thick, firm, and quivering with muscle. My favorite of the GIFs above is the fourth, with Tanner pinning Matt's head against the bottom rope. All Tanner's muscles are taut. My eye is drawn to his midsection, expanding slightly as he breathes. Matt's face is contorted in pain. His pale body shimmers in sweat. Though different in body type, Miller and Hill are definitely hunks worth close attention.
