Scrubbing the Mat with Sweat
Jason Anders vs Kenny Starr, Matmen 28 (BG East)
Kenny Starr joins the host of babyfaces determined to be bad-ass heels, smashing Jason Anders face-first on the mat while grumbling about all the times he has wanted to work out by himself, only to find somebody else already occupying the mat room. When Starr says "get the hell out of here," Anders quietly continues his stretches, which Kenny arrogantly interprets as "bowing" to him. Starr then makes the mistake of moving into Anders's personal space and receives a hard solid punch to the gut, which takes him face-first to the mat, with Anders climbing on top to dig his knee between Starr's shoulder blades.
Jason positions the wannabe heel in a combination body scissors and choke hold. "I don't like punks," he murmurs in a Clint Eastwood murmur. "And I don't like girly little yoga bitches," Kenny replies, his voice strained by the choke. Jason rolls Kenny over and, kneeling on the stomach, grabs Kenny's fingers. He pins the knuckles to the mat above Starr's head in a schoolboy pin before pulling up the punk's head so that his mouth is pressed to Anders's crotch.
Starr threatens vengeance and soon reverses, putting Anders in a chinlock. In just three minutes, the battle has already generated plenty of heat. Kenny's strong stocky build contrasts nicely with Jason's sinewy sleekness, and both men have sizable chips on their shoulders, always a plus in a fight. As the battle escalates, the two bodies remain locked together, wrenching and rolling. The fighters' tormented squalling fills the room. I wasn't expecting this fight to be this passionate and arousing. The bodies remain entangled almost continually.
Jason uses the sharp angles of his knees and elbows to rack Kenny's ribs and midsection. Kenny uses his whole body like a battering ram, propelling himself full-force into Jason. About a third of the way in, the bodies untangle, and singlet straps come undone. The wrestlers circle each other. Kenny gets pushy, and Jason responds with a high knee jab to Starr's seductively vulnerable belly. Claw-holds, chicken-wings, and suffocation by discarded gear follow. What a great fight between relative newcomers to BG East! For me, a lover of mat wrestling, Anders vs Starr is the standout event of Catalog 141. A fine start to 2020 from a warhorse among underground wrestling promotions.
