Jordan Devlin vs Darren Kearney, OTT Contenders 5 (Over the Top Wrestling)
Dublin, 14 January 2018. Devlin vs Kearney is a mix of acrobatics and combat. Gays of a certain age may remember the fleeting mid-80s art form as Gymkata. This is that, only good. My buddy Dr. L recommended I check it out, certain I would love it. Jordan Devlin is an old favorite of mine, and Darren Kearney is certified hot - his leg-and-buns days at the gym have not been wasted. What makes this NOT the usual acrobatic mess I sometimes complain about is the rigor of the combat, climaxing in what YouTube channel curator darren korn calls a "dirty piledriver" (Spoiler Alert: The GIF below the text gives it all away.)
In previous posts I have praised Irish fighters for their pluck and resilience. In the media and in my own experience, they like a brawl. From Danno O'Mahony, the guy who put the Irish in "Irish whip," to Finn Balor, they have mixed raw aggression and electrifying style in the squared circle. Devlin has personified these qualities since the first match I saw him in. Both he and Kearney mount a well-paced fight here, mixing drama and athleticism. Without overselling the point, both are slack-jawed with exhaustion by the middle of the match. In the fifth GIF above, we see Kearney dazed if not entirely depleted as he murders Devlin's right leg. The blankness on these wrestlers' faces is 100 times better than the comic mugging we see in inferior bouts.

This is a great find. I think Jordan Devlin is like the new Davey Richards. Their look, physiques, attitude and wrestling skills are very identical. If these two could have a match it would be a dream come true.
