Dick Rick vs Dev Michaels, Muscle Madness 2 (BG East)
How much alpha-male energy can fit into one 41-minute video? For the first four minutes, Dick and Dev face off - with the occasional distraction of a nearby mirror - as they pump up their biceps, dumbbells in hand. Their clipped exchanges revolve around territory: who's in whose space? They enter the ring to lie on their bellies and arm-wrestle, not my favorite entree on the menu, but I have to say, in this case, the low camera angle provides an inspirational view of these hunks' magnificent haunches. Dev wins in the right-handed contest, Dick, in the left-handed. A tie.
A standing, tits-to-tits test of strength leads into the actual wrestling, when tricky Rick kicks Dev in the abs, shortly before we hit the 11-minute mark. Seconds later, Michaels is in control. The two guys, built like come-to-life statues from the Trevi Fountain, circle each other menacingly. Fast-paced give and take follows, with both men breaking into a sweat about halfway through the video. The back and forth carries most of the match, but the reversals come further apart as each, mainly Dick, employs increasingly savage and underhanded methods of attack. At one point Rich uses loose wrist tape to strangle Michaels - an action for which he is soon punished.
By the last 10 minutes, their sweaty bodies gleam as if oiled. BGE's catalog description raises an intriguing point - "the next best thing to being undefeated is being the man who breaks someone else's winning streak." Dev enters this match with nine wins, zero losses. Dick has won the majority of his previous fights for this company, but he has known defeat, too. Dick seems to know a legacy may be achieved by beating someone as strong and able as Dev, so he fights nasty, maybe nastier than he has ever fought before. Such a scheme may have rewards, but, given Dev's volcanic temper and force, the risks are considerably higher than the possible benefits.
