Adam Reis vs Donnie "Brax" Braxton, Wanna Wrestle 34 (NHB-Battle/Movimus)

At age 18 here, Adam brings 10 years of wrestling experience to the mat. Brax is a couple of years older, a couple of inches taller, and several pounds heavier. Over the next three or four years Brax and Adam wrestled three times, twice in the Wanna Wrestle series, once in the Battling Battlers series. As far as I can tell, these were Adam's only matches at NHB-Battle (now archived at Movimus). Their first showdown was the feistiest.

I get it when people say watching collegiate or folkstyle wrestling is like watching paint dry. However, for me it's like watching a Grecian statue come to life. Even when bodies are locked together, mutually immobilized, there's still the undulent stomach to offset the glassy and exhausted gaze. The tiny trunks (Brax in black and Adam in baby blue) add heat, but as I have said before, good wrestling works for me even if the guys wear sweatshirts and jeans.

Brax shows his strength from the start - the lifts and takedowns of the first couple of GIFs, for example. He seems destined to win as he locks himself to Reis's head and waist. Then with sudden bursts of energy Adam strikes back, nimbly vaulting himself around and over a temporarily stunned Braxton. Looking at the seventh GIF, at first I think Brax is in control, but the pressure Adam puts on Braxton's elbow is about to win the teen a fall by submission.
