As if from Mount Olympus, Scrappy and Derek descend to the wrestling ring. First, Scrappy bounds into the ring, full of confidence and vitality, claiming the ring as his own. Big and hairy Derek takes his time descending the turquoise stairs and climbing into the ring, As the two stand face to face, the matchup looks disastrously uneven. Has Scrappy been booked to wrestle a house? They circle each other tentatively. Then BOOM the fight is on. Hurricane versus Volcano in the squared circle ... Tonight!

The battle is 90 percent strongman tactics. They trade turns hauling each other on their shoulders. With good reason the official match description emphasizes that Scrappy manages this feat twice against a wrestler taller and 55 pounds heavier. The wrestlers also punch, squeeze, hurl, and stomp each other. Scrappy comes on strong at first, but Derek, though slow to react and retaliate, is a wrecking ball with arms and legs, and when the paybacks arrive, they are devastating.

I have anxiously awaited this contest. I imagine most MuscleBoy fans have. Scrappy is a true phenomenon - brimming with charisma that most movie stars would envy. Derek made his first MuscleBoy appearance almost two years ago, a few months before McNair's arrival, and he was an instantaneous hit. His soulful eyes, meticulously sculpted beard, hairy pecs, and demure smile had an immediate impact on wrestling fans everywhere. Coming across as docile and dangerous at the same time, he occupies a unique space on the MBW roster.

Friendly at first, the fight turns hostile as the wrestlers come to fear a deadlock. In the last minute, one of the frustrated he-men introduces a foreign object - the classic steel folding chair! - and brings the tight race to a sudden knockout finish.
