Action Figure

Dean Christian vs Paul Perris, Canadian Musclehunk Wrestling #8 (Can-Am)

I like to imagine that Paul and Dean, now in their 50s, are still in good shape and have all their hair, more importantly, that from time to time they still get in the ring or on the mat off-camera to relive their former glory. To this day, Paul Perris is a fixation of mine. I haven't outgrown him.

Perris was a kickboxing Tarzan, smooth as an inner tube, as golden and valiant as a lion. His signature moves (those killer splits!) were admittedly laughable, but I never laughed. They took my breath away, and they highlighted the near perfection of his muscular thighs. The man sold his matches like Costco - in bulk and with great variety. None of that regular-guy shrug-and-smirk one often saw (and sees) in underground wrestling.

As the images above show, the action is back and forth, with Perris giving as much as he takes. He's the more scantily suited, often a sign of jobber status, a designation put to rest when Perris wins the first fall by submission, paralyzing Christian in a combination chin lock and chicken wing. Christian evens the score eight minutes later, submitting Perris in a full nelson and giving the camera an unobstructed view of the agonized musculature of Paul's torso. Six minutes later, a bear hug decides the winner of the contest.

Both wrestlers engage in the foul but oddly erotic practice of hair pulling - icing on the triple-layer beefcake that fills nearly every frame of the video.
