Max Taking Charge

Max Anderson vs Adam Reis, Battling Bodies 10 (NHB-Battle)

Max Anderson has rosy-cheeked good looks mixed with tiger's blood. My favorite thing he does is take charge of an opponent, grab him by the wrists, the way a big brother might force his kid brother to slap himself in the face, a prankish show of total control over another person's body. Adam Reis has a firm grip on him at the start, but Max bucks loose and is all over the guy like squid on a crab.

Sometimes it looks like Max intentionally gets himself in a fix for the pleasure of escaping and reversing. It's not enough to get on top; Max also has to inflict petty torments on Reis. In the last GIF he works Adam's legs like a rowing machine; often Max tosses Adam's body, flipping him from one side to the other. Bodily control - that's what Max is about. As later matches prove, Max is not invincible, but he has a showy side beyond his poker-faced  quietude, which I have mainly known him for. It's an aspect of Max's performance style I have not noticed previously. Perhaps Adam unleashes the rascal in him. More likely I have for years been blindfolded by Anderson's wholesome good looks and ignored his bully side. Now I like him even more.

  1. I really miss Max and the whole NHB/Movimus operation. I really liked their wrestling, and how many of their competitors seemed like normal guys, not models and gym bunnies.
