Quin Gets His Ass Kicked (Again)

Austin Tyler vs Quin Quire, Catalog 23 - Good Boys Go Bad (MuscleBoy Wrestling)

I'm not sure whether this match was shot in 2019 or more recently. If the latter, perhaps there's hope for Austin Tyler coming back to stay. If the former, it's still good to see him in action at MuscleBoy in a throwback to his time there. Austin is almost too good of a wrestler, which he has demonstrated every time his shadow has fallen on a wrestling mat or a ring floor.

Quin's most recent previous match was a little over a year ago and also against Austin, whose departure from MuscleBoy had already been announced. It was a mat match in MBW's private fight room. This new release looks somewhat lackluster by comparison, though my opinion can partly be attributed to my preference for grappling in tight spaces. Austin does his best to put some shine on the contest, and those efforts reliably are the fight's better moments.

To be fair, this is Quire's first ring battle - apart from his service as a valet. His moves lack the speed and snap of Tyler's work, but then Tyler comes to this match with years of training and experience. Some of Quin's attacks don't appear to fully connect - I refer especially to the second and third GIFs above (which are not in slow motion) - and I don't recall his being as gangling as he seems to be here. Tyler's ten extra pounds of muscle proves to be too big an obstacle for Quire to manage and helps Tyler put some serious hurt on Quire.

All in all, it's always a pleasure to see Austin Tyler command the ring and tear into even inexpert opponents. As usual, he doesn't need to grab our attention with a lot of shittalk or posing. His finesse and inscrutable calm in the midst of even a challenging battle do that for him.

  1. Oh, how I wish Austin would return to the underground scene! Such a pro in a ring or on a mat, and he's able to dominate anyone or believably sell getting his arse whooped. Oh, yeah. He's also not hard on the eyes... I would assume this is the release from an old match. But here's to hoping!
