He's Gotta Be Fresh from the Fight

Cason vs Hero, Mat Rats 133 (Thunders Arena)

A handsome college senior paid me welcome attention when I was a sophomore. Cason reminds me of him, BMOC-cool but with shoulders and pecs upperclassmen rarely achieved in those days. Nothing much happened with my buddy; ours was a short-lived acquaintance that arose and faded away in the time it took to rehearse and close a campus theatrical production. Unlike my onetime friend, Cason has a haughty attitude that conforms to the stereotypical big man on campus. Obviously he needs somebody to knock the chip off his shoulder. Hero, squat and easy to rile, appears right for the job.

I need a Hero more than I need a BMOC these days. Hero has the right look, flushing red when provoked, quick to bare his teeth in battle. He looks fantastic in devil-red trunks. The online description is correct in stating that this fight is brutal, far more so  than the usual Mat Rats confrontation, thanks to remarkable performances by Cason and Hero. The punches connect, the backdrop is destroyed, and a slow and agonized inverted headlock chokes one man to unconsciousness in the end. A fine, hard match by any promotion's standards, and newcomer Hero is now on my list of top-ten underground wrestlers.
