Fifty Fifty
Ethan Axel Andrews vs Steve Mason, The Stake (Hunkswrestling)
Steve booked himself a rematch with American superstar Ethan a couple of years ago. Two underground-wrestling impresarios from opposite sides of the ocean, facing off on the mat. Andrews is heavier and bigger and beat Mason in their first match, under the UCW label, but Mason is fearless - if incautious - as usual. Each man puts a crisp fifty-dollar bill on a bench, winner takes all.
Language barriers limit communications between the two, but grunts and groans are a universal language. The music of two hot guys struggling and suffering takes second place to no earthly language. Less talk, more moans should be the norm in all branches of wrestling. With no noisy crowd on hand and no mic to hog, underground wrestling has an advantage in yelps and howls, potent even with the picture off.
For the most part, the pain is real - or real enough for me. The grappling holds are standard, which means classic, with the addition of ball grabs The action is nonstop and surprisingly even, with Andrews, the better trained and perhaps the more vicious, distinctively advantaged against the Spaniard, source of most of the animal howls in the fight.
