Gunnar is built like a brick shithouse, as my mother used to say, not specifically about Gunnar, though. Lobo is handsome and instantly likable. A lamb to the slaughter, you might think. Indeed, it's hard to imagine the contest turning out any differently than it does. In the give and take that threads through the match, we see Gunnar relying heavily on his nigh invulnerable muscle and Lobo relying heavily on his wits, stooping to low blows when necessary to even the score, pretty much the only avenue available to him.

Lobo makes good use of the ring ropes and corners to hold Gunnar in place while he pelts him with body blows in a seemingly hopeless effort to weaken the guy. To judge by Gunnar's reactions, Lobo might as well be splashing water on him. In turn, Gunnar uses his muscle to slap Lobo's sexy and pleasingly hairy body to the mat and squish it in bearhugs. From the start, my money's on Gunnar, whose Olympian physique impresses, especially in the match's second half, when it shimmers with sweat. Both men put up a fine - if conventional - ring battle, but the mismatch makes it difficult for me to engage with it, much as I like and admire both Gunnar and Lobo.
