Ricky Archer vs Aaron Rourke, Reloaded, Ep. 2 (Chaotic Wrestling)

Ricky Archer has the panache of young American manhood. He's fun to watch in the ring, in no small part because of his well-honed physique. Aaron Rourke with his shimmery trunks and glitter makeup cannot hold a candle to Ricky's oomph. The two perform for an audience of masked fans, a haunting reminder of the times we live in.

Ricky made his ring debut shortly before COVID-19 hit the news. However much the pandemic has affected his ability to get bookings and the attention of sports writers, his passion for the ring appears uncurbable. His inspiration appears to be Japanese puroresu, but working on the roster of a regional promotion, he must adapt to whomever he's booked against.

Archer vs Rourke is a fun match with plenty of back and forth action. Speed is of the essence of Archer's style, so I'm denied the pleasure of tight clenches on the ring floor or against the turnbuckle. Archer reminds me of Sammy Guevara and Johnny Gargano, two other wrestlers I like a lot. The thrills here come from the out-of-ring slaps, boot heels to the head, and the well-executed through-the-ropes "slingshot" tackle that brings the match to a satisfying close.
