Kuma vs Dom9, No Holds Barred 191 (Thunders Arena)

I don't need to pull out a calculator to know which underground wrestling site introduces the most rookies per year, per month, per week. Thunders Arena specializes in muscle jocks (though not just muscle jocks) and hauls in more beef than anybody else. Among these bodybuilders, some wrestle, some pose, some bump and rub, some do all three.

Posing makes me yawn, as a rule - I'm impressed but not moved by it. (If we're talking live and in-person and up in my face, that's a different story.) Wrestling is the criterion by which I judge all bodily activity. Some of the Arena's best wrestlers - Scrappy, Iceman, Frey, Big Sexy, and so on - work at several promotions, such is the demand for big, meaty guys who have a real feel for the sport. Most fans without training - like me - engage in bumping and rubbing - not exactly wrestling, though we call it wrestling, yet not exactly not-wrestling either.

This recent release features Dom9 bumping and rubbing all over new hire Kuma. The online description is brief, a short short story. Thunder is shooting matches in Las Vegas. Dom9 is not booked to appear in front of the camera, but he begs Mr. Mike to give him a shot at Kuma because he "just wants to feel those massive muscles."  Mike thinks it's a bad idea; he fears it may scare the rookie off. "I'm sure I can do it in a way he won't notice but I will enjoy," Dom9 promises. Mike relents, and we see the results in No Holds Barred 191.

Like most of the Arena's new finds, Kuma is a beauty: fastidiously coiffed hair and beard, tattoos that accent but do not obscure his physique, a V-shaped torso, and thighs like propane cylinders. Top that off with a killer smile - genuine and disarming - and you're looking at star material. No wonder Dom9 wants to cop a feel.

I love the rough play here. It's aggressive, but not particularly strategic, and spontaneous, but not sloppy or awkward,  If Kuma is spooked by Dom9's forwardness, it doesn't show. Dom9's thrusts are close to perfect in their vehemence. He's playfully pugnacious, not pantomiming, not acting, but not brutish either.
