New Hope for Grunt and Groan?
Spencer Slade vs Cole Karter, IWC 20th Anniversary Show (IWC)
Two years ago neither of these beefy boys had seen the inside of a wrestling ring. Slade turned pro in 2019, Karter, in 2020. To watch them duke it out in this submission match two months ago, you might mistake them for having a far longer history, so great is their chemistry. Slade dubs himself the "Submission Specialist," but 20-year-old countryboy Karter is unimpressed.
The GIFs say everything you need to know to understand why this fight gets me hard. First, it is a fight - I get the sense they'd not only like to submit each other, but take it further with a knockout (especially Slade, clearly the stronger wrestler, on Karter). Second, these are two fantastic muscle bodies at work here. Third, sweat! Fourth, the lockup in the third GIF could have lasted five more minutes and I would not have complained. Fifth, ditto Spencer's pelvic thrust in the fourth GIF. Sixth, ditto Cole's straddling and clobbering in the sixth GIF. Seventh, the tight clench in the seventh GIF. Eighth, the on-the-knees slugging in the last GIF. Ninth,visible tan lines, above and below. Tenth, hair-yanking, woo-eee!
Not once through the sixteen-minute demolition derby did my attention lag. There are sloppy spots, but they are quickly mopped over - Slade is a master of picking up the slack, and for someone as young and inexperienced as he is, babyface Karter seldom slacks off.

I absolutely loved this match! The ending was perfect. It's great to see Cole on AEW as well. He's got a bright career ahead of him

ReplyDeleteI’m not sure the ear guards really work for Slade but everything else does. You're right when you predict these guys are the future (if the majors don't spoil them.)
There's a good Slade match against much bigger Bill Collier (who goes down much too easily).
