Charlie and the Choke-Out Factory

Bruno LaBestia vs Charlie Evans, Demolition 32 (BG East)

Most of Charlie's BGE matches have been in a ring, so I'm not sure why he shows up for this match in a singlet. He claims that he and Bruno were booked for the mat room, and he's been waiting there for who-knows-how-long. He's steaming mad. Bruno begs to differ, inviting Charlie into the ring, that is to say, grabbing Charlie's head and dragging him into the ring over the top rope. This match is the centerpiece of Demolition 32, and it's a safe bet that Charlie is the one about to be demolished.

In my opinion, the match is not as strong as the two end pieces - Cody Blayde vs Tiko and Jonny Firestorm vs Jayden Mayne - but it has its strong points, particularly for fans of LaBestia's jocular manner of destroying opponents. The big guy with the perpetual five-o'clock shadow is almost sixty pounds heavier than his challenger. He could beat Charlie in a minute, but he prefers to stretch the punishment to thirty minutes.

When you buy this disk, look closely at the title card that precedes the match. On the left, there's Bruno with his carnivorous smile and piercing predatorial eyes. On the right, there's Charlie. Just try to convince me that those aren't actual headlights aimed directly at his dumbstruck eyes. Those two snapshots pretty well summarize the whole mismatch.

Charlie leads with a hope spot, bounding off the ropes, ducking under Bruno's clothesline, catching the heel by the neck, and dumping him facedown to the mat. He then rolls over the guy a couple of times. That's it for Evans. That and an aborted hope spot at the thirteen-minute mark. Bruno takes over from there with an overkill of body slams, chokes, nelsons, claw holds, bear hugs, ball mashing, backbreakers, and headscissors, each served with the full muscle of LaBestia behind it.
