Jimmy Royce vs Doug Davis, Canadian Musclehunk Oil Wrestling #4 (Can-Am)

This 1993 oil wrestling match from Can-Am is fast-paced and brutal. Most oil matches are neither, more underwater ballet than tough competition. While oiling up, Jimmy Royce murmurs in a gravelly voice, equally sexy and determined, "I'm gonna kick your ass." Once the match starts, Doug Davis is insanely aggressive - so insane that I cannot wait for Royce to destroy him. Then, Royce and Davis tear into each other for three falls with the kind of energy usually reserved for last-reel showdowns in kung-fu movies. 

Two other personal favorite matches are featured on this compilation - John St. James vs Wyld Child, and Paul Perris vs Roman Stone. Both have profound effects on my wrestling fantasies to this day, almost 28 years later, and for years I usually overlooked this incredibly vicious opener in my rush to dive into these other iconic matches, both sexy as fuck. But the bad blood between Royce and Davis is far more explosive - and, at times, demented.

The two personalities are diametrically opposed. Doug Davis is a brat and cry-baby, who is vicious and reckless in his attacks on Royce. He unexpectedly wins one fall against the muscle-stud, necessitating a third face-off, and thank you! Royce is tight-lipped - a serious competitor - and in the third cycle of the match he levels Davis so deliciously I hit rewind again and again to savor Doug's humiliating defeat.

Doug is a bit older, 24 to Jimmy's 22, but less experienced in wrestling and less muscular. Davis weighs in at 170#, Royce at 180#. Both are 5'10". They have a kind of reverse chemistry. Doug is shrill and over the top, while Jimmy is more detached and levelheaded. Nevertheless, Doug succeeds in egging Jimmy on to a breaking point that leads to his own destruction. To this day, the crotch-to-crotch struggle seen in the last GIF below blows my balls.
