The Season to Be Brawly

Nick Milani vs Johnny Greco, Catalog 30 - Holiday Surprise (MuscleBoy Wrestling)

Nick and Johnny prove they're more than just pretty faces in this video that MuscleBoy dropped (along with three others). These two have tickled my fancy since they first showed up at MBW, Nick at the beginning of 2020 and Johnny a couple of months later. They have always been easy on the eyes - Milani in a moody, long-suffering sort of way and Greco full of vim and up for anything - but who knew they could command the ring as they do here?

The moves and holds are squared circle classics, and the two wrestlers nail every one of them, imbuing them with fierce energy not seen enough in underground wrestling, which often relies on smirky, I'm-above-this irony rather than down-and-dirty, kick-ass fighting.  Greco and Milani have always had the muscle, but in this match they put it to work in one slam-bang assault after another. This is not a first for MuscleBoy - take Nick Flex, for one example - but these two are tearing it up.

I had never noticed how close in size and weight these two men are - Nick is slightly taller, Johnny is somewhat heavier. Differences in fight and toughness are not apparent in this brawl. And while wrestling's bromantic aspects are absent in this match, performative aggression has its own kind of sex appeal (for some of us, anyway). The match opens new avenues for Nick's and Johnny's further development at MuscleBoy, and I cannot wait to see what they bring to the mat or the ring in 2022 and beyond.
