Bend, Stretch, and Squeeze

Cason vs Simpson, Vegas Battles 135 (Thunders Arena)

Wrestling for fun has a way of sometimes veering into a beating, as seen in this Vegas hotel room match between two personal favorites, Cason and Simpson. Tough-guy talk turns into pain and punishment. Cason has a forty-pound advantage over Simpson. Cason is my favorite, but I like Simpson, too and a lot. The catalog description states that Simpson gains momentum and control when he's down on the mat, an advantage not clearly illustrated in the screen shots above or, for that matter, through a large portion of the 27-minute video.

First seen reflected in the room's picture window, Cason and Simpson split over which one of them has the better physique for taking down the other guy. Simpson claims the advantage because his thighs are thicker and lower than Cason's. Cason takes the opposite position. Obviously, the only way to settle the dispute is not by flexing but by wrestling, which commences as Cason locks a full nelson on Simpson. I suppose the attack from behind means Cason is the heel. If so, he plays the role with surprising charm.

The patter persists throughout the contest, each man providing a running commentary on his own grappling prowess. The chattiness of Thunders Arena wrestlers is a given, and even strenuous holds do nothing to curb the verbiage, which lasts to the final knockdown and beyond. That doesn't bother me, though a lot of dialogue tends to skim off the seriousness of a match. For me, the best parts of Vegas Battles 135 are the way Cason's long, muscly limbs bind and bend Simpson, and the way hairy-chested Simpson valorously fights back
