I'd Hit That

Doug Warren vs Derrick James, Arena 20 (BG Enterprise)

On these chilly winter mornings, I warm my crotch watching Doug Warren thrust himself against opponents like Derrick James. If not THE first, he was one of the first underground wrestlers to catch and hold my attention. I saw as much of him as I could afford (via VHS tape - Don't laugh; it lasted longer than any iPhone model I've had). He was closer to me in age than most of the guys I saw in the wrestling brochures that regularly arrived by mail. He looked like he shaved and had a day job. I wanted to wrestle him  .. every day. I wasn't and still am not big on marriage, but I probably would have married Doug just for the wrestling.

This is a total squash job like many of Warren's matches - all of them, my memory tells me. I wanted to get squashed by Doug. At his most anguished, Derrick James looks like he's smiling and enjoying himself even though Doug seldom lets the youngster up for air. I get it. I have felt transcendence like this in wrestling, though I'm no athlete.

Doug also worked for BG East, where he fought even more bouts, The most recent is in Mat Hunks 12, opposite a very satisfied (and hot) Tony Vencini.

  1. He did have a day job, as a teacher. Sadly, some students found him on the BGEast site and he lost his job. BGEast removed his matches for a while, then put them back up listing him only as DW. Now they are listing him as Doug Warren again.

    1. A dirty shame. I got fired from my position at University of South Carolina in 1986, just a week after receiving a merit raise. In between, my dean saw me in the state newspaper as a cast member for a fundraiser for AIDS patients. I played minor roles in back-to-back productions of AS IS and THE NORMAL HEART ... My friend, danseur and dance instructor Tommy Richards, played the lead in AS IS and died of AIDS a couple of months later.

  2. BTW, Doug had many competitive matches: against Chip Slater, Dick the Prick, Casey Cutler, Wade Cutler, Brad Rochelle, Brandon Aldrich.

He himself was squashed by Brooklyn Bodywrecker, Dark Rogers, Bass Wallace.

Some of his opponents were so turned on by him that they turned into grope-fests pretty fast. Like Chase, Billyboy, PJ. As Chase said, "What a man!"

  3. Sorry but not sorry for Doug Warren, who was my Chem I teacher in Houston. Great teacher, nice guy but unfortunately he put his gay wrestling career ahead of his teaching career.

Sure, it was awful for him to get fired, but he knew exactly what he was getting into as an educator for doing gay wrestling videos. As a public employee, you are held to a higher scrutiny.

And it's not as if he just did one or two gay wrestling videos. He did almost 50 of them. That's not just a "slip up," that's a fucking porn career.

By the way - his real name is Doug (Dudley) Ronnenkamp. He lives in St. Petersburg, FL now. I wish him well but with a twinge of disappointment. How can anyone be so stupid as to try and be a public educator and porn star? SMH...

    1. There's a double standard. I think of all the straight guys who grabbed pussy and cheated on their wives and who were so stupid as to try to be both national leaders and scumbags, but whose careers were unaffected by a higher scrutiny.

    2. I agree to an extent. In a position of authority, you should be above reproach.

This however is different. You are doing it on camera for whatever reasons (ego, financial etc.), but then you are living a lie in your real life as a high school teacher in front of a classroom of minors.

Full disclosure - I knew the kid who found out Mr. R's secret identity as "Doug Warren" and he must've purchased a dozen BG East videos to watch with his friends. These viewings went viral until half the senior class knew about it. It was only a matter of time before it got leaked out.

I repeat - it was stupid for Mr. R to think that he could keep both his job and his gay wrestling side hustle. He should've known better.
