"This One's Mine!"

A sequel to the previous year's The Ten Gladiators, Triumph of the Ten Gladiators offers plenty of thrills. The adventure-slash-comedy has lots of beefcake, headlined by Dan Vadis, one of Mae West's crew of musclemen in the '50s, and fights ranging from slapstick to climactic confirmations, notably Roccia (six-foot-four Vadis) singling out a major villain and declaring, "This one's mine!" There are also scenes of torture, crucifixion, horseplay, pouty women in reams of chiffon, and touchy bonding between men in skirts.  Look for phallic objects, too (like the lock bolt Roccia uses to crush the arch-villain like a roach [bottom GIF] and, of course, swords, javelins, and the like). The pre-credits montage (above) proves that the film is not altogether lacking in production value. I enjoyed the whole thing, especially the fights - both comic and to-the-death, including wrestling takedowns, swordplay, punching, and a water fight.
