Five Minutes, Five Rounds

Drew Harper vs Max Ryder, Chase for the Championship (Wrestler4Hire)

Gabe Steele and Joey Nux launched the Chase for the Championship last year. I overlooked it and may need to give it my attention soon. For this match, Drew Harper is the draw for me. He faces Max Ryder, and I'm pretty sure Drew can beat Max. Drew's in top shape, and his is the performance to watch in this fight. Max has got the muscle for it, but I suspect he will end up looking at spinning stars. Maybe that's what the stars on his trunks signify. But check out Harper's leopard spots! My friends, Drew is ready to pounce.

Here are the rules: "5 rounds of 5 minutes each, and the wrestler who first notches 2 pinfalls or 1 knock out is declared the winner and moves on in the tournament." Clear enough. This match starts rolling at the three-minute mark, after warm-ups. For over a minute, Drew bounces Max off the ring floor.  In response Max has Drew in a single leg crab hold, which he follows by stomping Drew's upper thigh twice. He gets a chin-lock on Drew, but Drew grabs him by the nuts and slams his back to the canvas.

All this time, my eyes are on Harper. I love his strong farm-boy physique, nothing too pretentious, the kind of body heavy work outside creates. It lacks the streamlined striation gym equipment provides, but it gets the job done. Max's body is built similarly, solid, not flashy. According to the catalog description of this match, Harper's edge is more experience and confidence. He's also hungrier than easygoing Max. Unless Max heats up, Drew will move on in the tournament.
