Guts and Glory
Ash DeLeon vs Wolfboy, Gut Bash 18 (BG East)
These are two very different wrestlers playing by very different sets of rules. Wolfboy leans towards the wildness of mixed martial arts. He's all attitude, speed, and strong style wrestling. Ash has a different energy entirely - restrained and patient but merciless and vicious when pushed too far. For Wolfboy, I think of street fights. For DeLeon, I think S&M. Catalog 158 gets it right - Wolfboy pushes too hard and goes too far. Everything he does is punkish and over the top. Ash DeLeon approaches the ring, thinking he's booked for a rulebook style boxing match. He's surprised to find out that Wolfy has rejigged the contest, but Ash is adaptable and, as already implied, a strict disciplinarian.
Right off, Wolfboy knocks Ash down, stomps on his gut, and straddles his neck in order to pound the man's skull with kickboxing gloves. It's a sneak attack that works - at first. Wolfboy blasts Ash from all directions for the next ten minutes. Then he makes a foolish mistake by turning his back on Ash in order to admire his raw, lean musculature in the ringside mirror. It's a break he'll soon regret taking. Ash gives Wolfboy a taste of what classic boxing gloves can do, pounding him on the mat and in the corner ropes. But just wait till he pulls off his gloves!
In the last half of the match, we see DeLeon's taste for body torture and S&M props. He chokes and restrains Wolfboy with his loosened hand wraps. Then he cuffs him to one of the corner posts to subject the loudmouth punk to some small-scale but still searing punishments. When he throws Wolfboy back into the ring, he shows how much damage he can deliver with his bare knuckles.
Hint: Plenty!
