Cannon Fire

Mikey Cannon vs Max Ryder, Match 830 (UCW)

Ryder interrupts BodySlam's interview with handsome new hire Mikey Cannon, eager to get his hands on the newbie with a swimmer's build. BodySlam wants to wait till Axel arrives and trains the two of them together. Max's eagerness cannot be contained, and Mikey seems okay with mixing it up with Max. BodySlam watches (and occasionally interferes) from ringside, protecting, when he can, Mikey against Max.

In this match, Max is predatory and lascivious, seemingly modeling himself after Nero Angelo these days. It's not a pretty look, and it makes sense that BodySlam should feel protective of his new hire. Cannon does a good job of fending for himself, but Max's bulk and ring experience are distinct advantages. Max pushes Mikey into this match, but he seems motivated by other urges than just "training." It's a nasty fight, and I like nasty.

It's too bad Chase Michaels is not around, because he would be a great physical match for the rookie. Mikey demonstrates moxie in taking on Max and handles himself well in the ring, putting up more of a fight than Max expected or prepared for. Mikey's best when he cuts loose and goes bonzai all over Max.

Apparently, this match occurred before Mikey's fight with Anton Alvarez, released in July.

SPOILER:

In the end, Max chokes out Mikey outside the ring, leaving him on his back on the cement floor.
