Brad Honeycutt vs Nick Flex, Catalog 34 - BRAWLERS (MuscleBoy Wrestling)

One thing is certain: you succeed in underground wrestling, and soon you're a target for every B-list wrestler trying to make a name for himself and a whole lot of ringside marks, hungry for your humiliating downfall. Success makes you a target because everybody wants his two minutes of fame. Admittedly, Brad has good reason for wanting a crack at Nick. He's taken on two of the company's hottest hot shots - Scrappy McNair and Gabe Steel. Now he wants a piece of Nick Flex. Brad is in his best shape yet, and as this match reveals, he's made a thousand-meter leap in his combat know-how. By the middle of this match, it's clear he has the stuff to change MBW history.

Just one problem, though. Nick Flex isn't ready to give up his alpha-dog ranking. The tiger still has his claws, and Flex is still nothing less than t-r-o-u-b-l-e for anyone who enters the squared circle against him. (Today, this means Brad Honeycutt.) Flex has got "it," and the first half of this 24-minute proves it. This is the BRAWL that Catalog 34 is named for. Flex has anvils as pecs and shoulders - he can take a beating and stay standing. Typically, I call this type of match give-and-take, and it is that, but a more honest name might be shatter-and-grind.

I wasn't expecting Honeycutt to come on as strong as he does in the match's second half. He's worked hard to get here, and to his way of thinking, Nick Flex hasn't "got it" anymore. Flex begs to disagree, but even Flex sees that Brad is not the jobber he was expecting. This is a fine ring match with two fine and strongly competitive fighters giving their all.
