Will Ospreay vs Paul Robinson, United (RCWA)

Dr. L has never failed me. He sent me this explosive new video right when I needed it. ("New" this year:  the match occurred in January 2022.) Never one to be impressed by long-range off-the-top-rope aerial assaults, I have to say that over the years Will Ospreay (among others) has lessened my dislike of them. In this contest, Will and his opponent Paul Robinson are fundamentally human fireworks. The elements of spectacle are undergirded by high-risk, kamikaze attacks that are awesome because of their insanity.

The ring lighting gives emphasis to the drama, putting Will and Paul in stark contrast to the midnight-black background. The crowd is all but invisible. Nothing distracts from the match's brilliant recklessness and the near-catastrophic finish. As rehearsed as these daredevil moves undoubtably are, they retain a high level of believable menace and genuine peril.
