Shooters 1 - Scottie vs Lonnie

Lonnie Moore vs Scottie Nguyen, Shooters 1 (BG Enterprise)

It's 1990, and Scottie is ripped and ready to wrestle. His opponent, Lonnie, is new to BG - and not here for long: Shooters 1 will be his only BG appearance. None other than Cliff Conlin refs the match, promising $100 to the winner.

Though situated in a ring, Scottie and Lonnie make no use of the ropes. They wrestle on the mat, squirming, rolling, huffing, grunting, grinding, spending most of the time horizontally positioned on each other.

Regulars at Ringside know my fascination with and lust for grappling. The struggle here is vigorous and tactile, skin brushing up against skin perpetually. Scottie's grimace contrasts with Lonnie's self-assured persistence. Lonnie plays rough and has a quick temper. He hates to lose. 

Scottie has three matches on this disk; Lonnie has two. Cliff Conlin has four matches, not counting his gig as a ref in this match. In previous matches, he wrestles Scottie (Bout 1) and Lonnie (Bout 3), so, as a ref, he knows these men's styles. He pinned both of them.

The title Shooters refers to an emerging wrestling style in 1970s Japan, specializing in full body contact and unscripted wrestling. Despite the hopefulness of the title, there has been no Shooters 2.
