Zach Reno and Calvin Rogers vs Sid Shaw (Wrestler4Hire)

In my years of TV wrestling fandom - the peak being my twenties and early thirties - I don't recall a pair of babyfaces ganging up on the heel. Heels on top of a solitary babyface, sure, but not this. Perhaps I saw such a match and forgot all about it, its distastefulness offending my idea of justice and fair play. I'm not sure how I would respond to it today. This match - two snot-nosed punks attacking a rugged babyface - is more familiar. The setup is classic TV pro wrestling - punks picking on somebody they oughtn't pick on and paying the price for their impropriety.

In this 2021 two-on-one match, two cute guys, Zach Reno and Calvin Rogers, make the mistake of thinking they're untouchable. Sid Shaw is bigger and beefier than his challengers. He has the sunburnt face of a cowboy and the body of a Roman gladiator. These fleshy prep school rascals are asking for it, and about a third of the way through the match, they get it - and get it in spades at the hands of Shaw, who does not suffer fools gladly.

That setup tells the whole story, but the forms of punishments Sid selects for Zach and Calvin call for closer attention. In most cases the hero takes the bad guys on individually - knocking out one and immediately fending off the other. However, most of Shaw's paybacks take on the villains as a matched set, binding them in highly suggestive poses at times, at other times wringing their necks in tandem. Side lighting gives the fight extra drama and a strongly suggestive vibe. Nice!
