Messing Up DeLeon

Jonny Firestorm vs Sunny DeLeon, Jobberpaloozer 24 (BG East)

Jonny started his BGE career as the kid next door. Now he's a superstar who breaks in up-and-coming talent - literally, he "breaks" them. Unlike most heels, Jonny doesn't appear to take pleasure in his role. He's not a sadist or a bully, strictly speaking. If you focus on his face, you'll notice he seldom smiles nowadays. What you see is intensity and sustained mental focus - like a gem cutter or a brain surgeon or a bomb defuser. He pinpoints his opponents' survival instincts and, with great care, extracts whatever strengths and defenses they brought with them into the ring. He neutralizes them.

Longtime fans respect and honor Jonny's prowess and opportunism. He's a forager - he pursues and kills his prey - in this case, he's killing his opponents' attempt at self-preservation - not the actual opponents. Poor Sunny DeLeon is a lost cause the moment he steps self-confidently into the BGE ring and adjusts his singlet. Jonny climbs into the ring behind Sunny. He slowly shakes his head, seemingly regretting the wreckage he will soon make of hopeless Sunny. But not really regretting anything. Like anyone with a talent, Jonny puts his to work. He admires his biceps reflected in the ringside mirror. He doesn't smile.

His knee hits Sonny's balls like lightning. He then pounds Sonny's spine with his forearm and boot, with a flashy elbow drop for good measure. In the minutes that follow, Firestorm punches Sonny's crotch, rubs the guy's face against his (Jonny's) crotch, slams the kid's abs against his knee, adds a few stomps to Sonny's ribs, stands on those ribs, drives his elbow into those ribs, flexes while digging his elbow into Sonny's gut, slams his fist into that gut, rubs that fist against Sonny's nose, and applies the "iron claw" to Sonny's midsection. Not even a glimmer of human emotion or satisfaction on Jonny Firestorm's face as Sonny hollers. Jonny himself is silent, with not a glimmer of emotion on his face. The man's a machine.

A third of the way through the match, Sonny gets a hope spot. Guess how long that spot lasts. I have seen sneezes longer than that hope spot. Halfway through the match, Sonny gets another hope spot. Give it two and a half minutes - and you will forget it ever happened. The final minutes of this match are spectacular and painful to watch - like other catastrophes like tornados, earthquakes, tidal waves, you get my point.
