Oily Gladiators

Scrappy vs Tuco, Oily Gladiators (Underground Wrestler)

Oil wrestling is a realm of its own - equally divided between the young men of ancient Greece and Babylon and our 21st-century show-offs. In our day, the oil challenges the wrestlers to get a firm grip on their opponents while the others attempt escape or reversal. I've never tried it, but it fascinates me.  It's a lot like underwater wrestling, which I have tried (decades ago). It also simulates intercourse, sometimes succeeding in penetrating the "loser." Also, there's rip-and-strip, a semi-brutal variation. It can be practiced in private or in an arena.

Scrappy is built for this sort of thing. He's strong and eager to tangle, even to the point of mutual immobility, when both athletes are equally tied up in the other's limbs. Sometimes this requires the interference of a referee. Scrappy and Tuco are pretty close in ability and size. Scrappy seems to sport more muscle, I think Tuco is very close to him in ability and determination.

"Difficulties are the things that show what men are. Hence-forth, when some difficulty befalls you, remember that god, like a wrestling-master, has matched you with a rough young man. For what end? That you may become an Olympic victor and that cannot be done without sweat." Epictetus in Discourses

  1. I thought Tuco's laughing and looking away to the camera detracted from this match. Scrappy was superb. as always.
